Proof of Consent

Houston Chargers Sports LLC · SMS, WhatsApp & Email Notifications

Last updated 21 June 2026

This page documents how users provide explicit consent to receive SMS, WhatsApp and email notifications from Houston Chargers, and how they can opt out at any time. It is intended for carriers, messaging-platform reviewers (e.g. Twilio A2P 10DLC), and any other compliance audit.

1. Where users opt in (public link)

All sign-ups occur at the public registration page below. No login is required to view this form.

Open the sign-up form — https://houstonchargers.com/Identity/Account/Register

2. The verbatim consent language shown at sign-up

Every user must tick the following checkbox before their account is created. The registration form is server-validated to reject any submission where this checkbox is unticked — consent cannot be skipped or assumed.

(Reproduction of the live checkbox — reviewers can see the identical control on the public sign-up form linked above.)

3. What users will receive after opt-in

  • Squad announcements — when a player is selected for a match, including the fixture details and assigned duties.
  • Game-day contribution reminders — for the $10 per-fixture player contribution, with secure payment links.
  • Account activation notices — when a new club member's application is approved.
  • Fundraiser updates and event announcements — only the club's own events; no third-party content.

Frequency: Typically 2–6 messages per month per user during the cricket season, lower in off-season.
Senders: SMS and WhatsApp are sent through Twilio. Email is sent from mob@houstonchargers.com.
Carrier costs: Message and data rates may apply per the user's mobile-carrier agreement.

4. How users opt out

Users have multiple, persistent ways to opt out at any time:

  • Per-channel toggles in their account profile — signed-in users can disable Email, SMS or WhatsApp independently at https://houstonchargers.com/Identity/Account/Manage/EditProfile.
  • Reply STOP to any SMS or WhatsApp message — Twilio honours this automatically and blocks all future outbound traffic to that number from our sender.
  • Reply HELP to any SMS or WhatsApp message — returns our support contact details.
  • Email opt-out — reply to any club email or email support@houstonchargers.com requesting removal.

When a user opts out of any channel via the in-profile toggle, an automatic alert is sent to support@houstonchargers.com so administrators stop reaching out on that channel.

5. How consent is recorded

The following is stored against each user record at sign-up time:

  • TermsAcceptedUtc — the exact UTC timestamp the user ticked the consent box.
  • NotifyByEmail, NotifyBySms, NotifyByWhatsApp — per-channel boolean preference flags, defaulting to true at signup, individually togglable thereafter.

Every outbound message check is gated by these flags: if a user has disabled SMS, our application will not queue an SMS to them regardless of the action that triggered the notification.
